Rounds each pair are in the same group. 34 of 36 pairs play together at least once, and the most any pair share is 3. A boxed 0 is a pair who never meet.

The rules

How the trip is won

Each counting round ranks the whole field on that round's game and awards points by place. Ties share the points of the places they cover.

Points by place: 1st 10, 2nd 8, 3rd 6, 4th 5, 5th 4, 6th 3, 7th 2, 8th 1, 9th 0.

On partner rounds a team fills two places, and each partner gets the average of those two places' points.

All 4 counting rounds count.

The standings say "based on current standings" until every counting round is in.

Ties

Players level on the standings are separated by these, in order. Every broken tie on the standings says how it was broken.

  1. Most rounds won (a shared first counts)
  2. Best single counting round
  3. Head to head: who finished ahead of the others in more rounds

The rounds

Handicaps

Course handicap = index × slope ÷ 113 + (course rating − par), rounded, for the tees you play. Par comes from the tee's own scorecard.

Each round's game sets the share of your course handicap you get, and your strokes fall on the hardest holes by stroke index: 7 strokes means one on each of stroke-index holes 1 to 7.

In the trip games your strokes come from your own course handicap, not from the best player in your group. That's what lets a score in one group, or on one course, be compared with everyone else's.

Side games like skins are different: there you "play off" the lowest handicap in your group, so the best player gets no strokes and everyone else gets the difference. The Today screen lists those strokes for each group.

Each round's scores keep the index and tees used that day, so a later change never rewrites a finished round.

Every index is confirmed.

Partner rounds with an odd number

Two-man best ball with an odd number of players: the player without a partner plays their own ball. After the round, another player is drawn at random, and their scores count as the solo player's partner, for the solo player's result only. The drawn player's own team result doesn't change, and the draw is shown with the results.

Alternate shot or shamble with an odd number of players: the player without a partner still plays the round but sits out the game, and gets the middle of the points table toward the standings. Sitting out never scores zero.

Final day

The top 4 in the standings play match play. Semifinals on the front nine (1 v 4, 2 v 3), then the final and the third-place match on the back nine.

The higher seed starts ½ up.

Strokes: the higher handicap gets the difference in course handicaps on the hardest holes (half the difference over nine holes, rounded). Played at Pine Ridge · Blue (par 72, 6,712 yds, 72.4/134).

Places not decided by a match come from the standings.

Prizes

Entry is $100 each, so the pot is $900.

A shared place splits the payouts of the places it covers.

Side games

Played within each group and settled there. They aren't scored here and don't count toward the standings.
